Program Design

Pathway House programming is based on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Throughout their stay, residents study and practice the steps. In addition, they attend community-based AA/NA meetings and obtain an AA/NA sponsor as part of their recovery plan. They are also expected to gain employment, volunteer work, or pursue educational goals. Group and individual sessions are required to address individual issues and needs.

The treatment program at Pathway House is structured around the Six Dimensions of care, with a particular emphasis on Dimension Five: Relapse and Continued Use Potential and Dimension Six: Recovery Environment. Upon admission, each resident begins developing a personalized relapse prevention plan and works toward completing goals that support a healthy and sustainable recovery environment.

Key areas of focus include:

  • 12-step program participation and assignments

  • Acceptance and self-awareness

  • Identification of relapse triggers and strategies to manage them

  • Development of healthy living habits and coping skills

  • Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders

  • Self-defeating behaviors

  • Addressing medical, mental health, and legal issues

  • Securing stable and sober housing

All residents are expected to have a safe and sober living environment arranged prior to discharge from Pathway House.
